Round trip from Venice aboard the Royal Clipper, June 19 – 26, 2027.

Day by Day

Port times: more information coming soon. Itinerary, ports and times are subject to change by Star Clippers. The Captain may alter the itinerary due to wind, weather and local conditions.

Cabin Categories

All cabins have a private bathroom, air-conditioning, a flatscreen TV, hairdryer, safe and under-bed storage. All cabins are non-smoking.

Category 3 and 4 cabins on the Clipper Deck may be slightly smaller than those on the Commodore Deck. Not all cabins are identical. Category 6 cabins start at $3,030 CAD per person, based on double occupancy, including taxes and port fees. Gratuities are extra. Ask Rose for pricing by category and which cabins are still available in the group.

• Round-trip airfare and transfers
• Pre- and post-cruise hotel nights
• Shore excursions, including the optional Blue Cave trip from Komiža (booked and paid on board)
• Gratuities
• Bar drinks
• Travel insurance

Insider Tips

• Dress is smart casual. There are no formal nights, just one Captain's dinner where guests dress up a little.
• A White Night and a Pirate-Themed Night will likely be part of the sailing, so pack something white and a little pirate flair!
• Dining is open seating, so you can sit with the group or meet new friends.
• Shore excursions are booked and paid on board.
• Pack your swimsuit for the Dubrovnik morning swim stop and the ship's watersports.
• Cabins use 220-volt European plugs. Bring an adapter.
• The Royal Clipper carries about 227 guests, so it feels more like a private yacht than a big ship.

Flights

Getting to Venice

Fly into Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE). From Toronto there are direct and one-stop options through a European hub. Flights leave Toronto in the evening and land in Venice the next day, so plan to leave home on June 17 at the latest.

Returning Home

You'll disembark in Venice on Saturday, June 26. Disembarkation time: more information coming soon. Choose a late-morning or afternoon flight, or add a night in Venice.

Transfers

Once we know everyone's flights and hotel plans, we can help arrange transfers to and from the ship.

Where to Stay

Pre-Cruise

Spend at least one night in Venice before the ship sails, or two or three to explore St. Mark's Square, the Rialto and the islands of Murano and Burano. Be sure to tell your hotel your arrival time, especially with an early-morning arrival.

Getting to the Port

The Royal Clipper is expected to sail from the San Basilio Passenger Terminal, in the Dorsoduro / Santa Marta area of Venice's historic island, along the Giudecca Canal. Water taxis and private transfers are the easiest way to reach the ship with luggage. Rose can help arrange this.

Post-Cruise

Add a night in Venice, or carry on to Verona, Lake Garda or Florence by train.

Canals & Gondolas

Your voyage begins and ends in Venice. Arrive early to wander the canals, cross the Rialto Bridge and take in St. Mark's Square. A gondola ride is the classic way to see the city from the water.

The Old Town Walls

The day starts with a morning swim stop, weather and sea conditions permitting. Then explore Dubrovnik's walled Old Town, with its marble streets, churches and sea views from the city walls.

Harbour & Blue Cave

Komiža is a sheltered fishing harbour on the island of Vis. The Royal Clipper offers an optional excursion to the Blue Cave on nearby Biševo Island, at additional cost. Excursions are booked and paid on board.

Colourful Old Town

Rovinj's pastel houses rise from the harbour to the bell tower at the top of the old town. Wander the cobblestone lanes, browse the galleries and enjoy a coffee by the water on the last day before Venice.

Packing List

Clothing

Light, breathable summer clothes and smart casual outfits for dinner. One slightly dressier outfit for the Captain's dinner. A light sweater or wrap for breezy evenings on deck. Covered shoulders and knees for visiting churches.

Footwear

Comfortable walking shoes for cobblestones and steps, non-slip shoes for the deck, and sandals or water shoes for swim stops.

Sun & Rain

Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat that won't blow away, and a light rain jacket just in case.

Extras

Swimsuit, a reusable water bottle and a small day bag. Bring a European travel adapter: the ship uses 220-volt European plugs, and Italy, Croatia and Montenegro use type C and F plugs (Italy also uses type L).

Weather Tips

June on the Adriatic

June is early summer, with long sunny days, warm seas and little rain. It's a lovely time for swimming and sitting on deck under sail.

Temperatures

Daytime highs are usually in the mid to high 20s °C, with evenings around 17 to 20 °C. Sea temperatures are typically in the low 20s °C.

Sun Protection

The sun is strong, especially on the water. Use sunscreen, wear a hat and drink plenty of water.

Money & Currency

Local Currency

The euro (€) is used in every port on this voyage: Italy, Croatia and Montenegro.

Cards vs. Cash

Credit and debit cards are widely accepted. Carry some euros for small purchases, cafés and markets. Let your bank know you're travelling, and use a card with no foreign transaction fees if you have one.

Onboard Spending

Purchases on board are charged to your shipboard account and settled at the end of the voyage.

Documents

Passport

Canadians need a valid passport. We recommend it be valid until at least December 26, 2027, six months after you return. Italy and Croatia are in the Schengen area, which also requires that your passport was issued within the last 10 years.

Entry Requirements

Europe's new entry rules are changing, including the EU Entry/Exit System and the ETIAS travel authorization. Check the latest rules before you travel at travel.gc.ca (Italy, Croatia and Montenegro) and joinsherpa.com.
