Itinerary, ports and times are subject to change by Star Clippers. The Captain may alter the itinerary due to wind, weather and local conditions.

Cabins & Deck Plan

Prices in Canadian dollars, per person based on double occupancy, and include $250 per person in port charges. Ask Amy which cabins are still available in the group.

Insider Tips

• Life aboard is relaxed and intimate. With just 166 guests, you'll get to know the crew and your fellow sailors quickly.
• Don't miss the sail-away moment when the sails are raised. It's the highlight for many guests.
• Take a turn in the bowsprit netting above the sea, or climb the midship mast with the crew.
• Dress is smart casual: resort wear on deck by day and casual in the evening. There is one Captain's dinner where guests dress up a little more. No formal nights.
• Dining is open seating, so you can dine when you like and with whom you like.
• Snorkel gear, kayaks and other water sports are offered when weather and local rules allow.

Flights

Getting to St. Maarten

Fly into Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) on the Dutch side of the island. Toronto has non-stop service in the winter season, and connections are available through Montreal and US hubs. The cruise port in Philipsburg is a short drive from the airport.

Returning Home

You'll disembark in Philipsburg on Saturday, February 27. Disembarkation times are still to be confirmed, so plan on an afternoon flight home. More information coming soon.

Where to Stay

Pre-Cruise

Plan at least one night in St. Maarten before sailing. Philipsburg puts you close to the ship and the shops of Front Street, while Simpson Bay is close to the airport and has plenty of restaurants. Be sure to tell your hotel your arrival time, especially with a late arrival.

Getting to the Port

Taxis are easy to find on the island and are the simplest way to reach the pier in Philipsburg. Boarding times will be confirmed closer to sailing.

Post-Cruise

If your flight is later in the day, a hotel day room or beach day near the airport makes the wait easy. Or add a night or two and enjoy a few more days in the sun.

Road Bay, Anguilla

Anguilla is known for some of the finest beaches in the Caribbean. Road Bay and the village of Sandy Ground offer a long curve of white sand, calm water, and relaxed beach bars and restaurants. A perfect first day to settle into island time.

The Bight, Norman Island

After a morning sailing through the Sir Francis Drake Channel, the Star Flyer drops anchor at The Bight on Norman Island, an island of seafaring legend. Enjoy the water and the snorkelling nearby, then sail on to Sopers Hole on Tortola for the evening.

Virgin Gorda & The Baths

Visit the iconic Baths of Virgin Gorda, where giant granite boulders create grottos and pools of crystal-clear water. In the afternoon, relax on the beach at Captain's Best.

White Bay, Jost Van Dyke

White Bay is one of the most loved beaches in the British Virgin Islands, with soft sand, bright turquoise water and famous beach bars. Bring your swimsuit and plan for a lazy day in the sun.

Packing List

Clothing

Light, breathable resort wear for the day, swimsuits and cover-ups, and smart casual outfits for the evening. Pack one slightly dressier outfit for the Captain's dinner. A light sweater or jacket is handy for breezy evenings on deck.

Footwear

Non-slip, soft-soled shoes for the teak decks, sandals or water shoes for beach landings, and comfortable walking shoes for exploring ashore.

Sun & Rain

Reef-safe sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat that won't blow away, sunglasses and a light rain shell for passing showers.

Extras

A dry bag for beach days, your own snorkel mask if you prefer, motion-sickness remedies if you're prone to it, and a small day pack. The Star Flyer cabins have 110-volt power with American and European plugs.

Weather Tips

February in the Caribbean

February is in the dry season, with plenty of sunshine, low humidity and steady trade winds, which is ideal for sailing. Short showers can pass through, then clear quickly.

Temperatures

Expect daytime highs around 28°C and evening lows around 23°C. The sea is warm, around 26°C.

Sun Protection

The sun is strong even with a breeze. Reapply sunscreen often, wear a hat and drink plenty of water.

Money & Currency

Local Currency

Each island has its own currency: the US dollar in the British Virgin Islands, the Eastern Caribbean dollar in Anguilla and St. Kitts, the euro in St. Barts, and the Caribbean guilder on Dutch St. Maarten. US dollars are widely accepted throughout the region.

Cards vs. Cash

Credit cards are accepted at most shops and restaurants. Bring some small US bills for taxis, beach bars and tips. Let your bank know your travel dates before you go.

Onboard Spending

Purchases on board are charged to your shipboard account and settled at the end of the voyage. Your $40 CAD group onboard credit is applied to your cabin's account.

Documents

Passport

Canadian citizens need a valid passport for this sailing. We recommend your passport be valid until at least August 27, 2027, six months past your return date. Check the expiry date now so there's time to renew if needed.
