August is peak summer in Jamaica, and it's also hurricane season, which is one more reason to get insurance. Pack light layers, swimwear, sandals, and something dressy for the wedding and the à la carte restaurants. Jamaica uses the Jamaican dollar, but US dollars and credit cards are widely accepted. Bring small bills for tips.
